Frequently Asked Questions - 6.8 x 45 UCC
Q: Does the 6.8 x 45 UCC cartridge have more recoil than the 223 Remington?
A: Yes, in a similarly configured weapon it has approximately thirty percent more recoil than a 223 Remington / 5.56-mm chambered weapon.
Q: Is Kramer Defense going to make barrel lengths other than the 16” inch listed on your website?
A: yes, our 10.5” inch upper receiver groups will be available soon and possibly an 18” inch SPR version.
Q: Can I use a standard thirty round 223 Remington / 5.56-mm magazine with the 6.8 x 45 UCC cartridges?
A: No, they will only function with seven or eight rounds inserted in a thirty round magazine but not reliably, the internal dimensions are too tight and the cartridges will be forced into each other and jam the magazine.
Q: What velocity will I get from the 6.8 x 45-mm sixteen inch barrel?
A: In our testing we obtained a muzzle velocity "average" of 2500 feet per second with our Standard and Select ammunition with both bullet weights when fired from our Nitride treated barrels, our chrome lined barrels may give slightly lower velocities, especially in cooler temperatures. Our test was conducted in early summer outside Las Vegas when the temperature was approximately 85 degrees. Averages may be slightly lower in colder temperatures and slightly higher in warmer temperatures.
